Yewá
Guardian of the dead

Yewá
She is a superior Orisha. She dwells in the cemetery among the tombs, and of the dead she is responsible for delivering the corpses to Oya. These are some of the major deities of Santería. There are also countless minor ones. The Yoruba belief system includes an omnipotent god (Olódùmarè) and 401 Irúnmöle. Naturally, there are no uniform rules regarding names, attributes, and legends (patakkìn of oral tradition, catalogued only in the 20th century). The rituals vary according to the liturgical schools (reglas).
